We only work with timber suppliers who can produce an "FSC" chain of custody certificate for the wood we buy to ensure we are purchasing wood from a sustainable source.

Our wood projects inevitably start at one of our favoured hardwood sawmills, who cut and grade the timber to our initial requirements. All our wood is usually kiln dried to around a 10 to 12% moisture level initially as we deem this to be a suitable level for warm, dry indoor use.

When working with solid woods, it is important to remember that natural woods have what is called an "equilibrium moisture content", which varies depending on temperature and humidity. This is one of the reasons why hardwood outer doors tend to stick, or jam during the winter months.

For this reason, we always pre-condition our wood to meet the environment that you will be using our product in.

For every wood product we sell, we provide a maintenance guide to looking after the wood, thus ensuring our customers can appreciate their investments for many years to come.
Metal Products

Choosing a designer radiator to suit a particular room theme involves much more than simply picking a radiator that looks good in the room.

It has to be able to provide sufficient heat output during the cold winter months to ensure the room is habitable. This is a problem for many designer radiators, especially for houses where the rooms are north facing.

Replacing a "flat panel" radiator with a designer equivalent often results in a poorly heated room.

At BlueCrab, we take pride in ensuring our products meet your exact requirements, and as such we always calculate room thermal losses to ensure we design a radiator that not only looks good, but performs well.

We always strive to work to BS EN 442 for design, manufacture and testing; although with certain custom products this standard is not always applicable. Where this proves to be the case, we will design and manufacture to an agreed specification.
